Wait on the Vape

Vaping and e-cigarettes have become a highly popular activity here at Capital High School and other high schools around the nation. Walking in the bathrooms, hallways, and even classrooms, you can see kids putting their sleeves up to their mouths. Upon closer inspection, you can see a light cloud of smoke when they exhale. Dealing with this issue can be hard, many of the teachers and staff are firm believers that students should be punished and fined if caught either in the building or in their vehicles, eighteen or not.

Dealing with vaping causes a debate about how to deal with it legally. When you’re under eighteen and caught vaping on school property, you’re charged with a minor in possession, and smoking on school property. If you’re eighteen and caught smoking, you are only tried you could also be charged with misdemeanor for smoking on school property and even (depending on what offense you’re on first second or third) you’ll get a fine that can be anywhere for fifty dollars to two hundred fifty dollar fine and have community service. But, what happens if they’re in the own vehicle in the parking lot and eighteen? How does a court deal with that? To an extent, a student, as long as they are of legal age, should be able to vape. Of course this comes with the contingency that they’re not being rude, blowing smoke everywhere out the window. But, if the kids are under the legal age, they should be charged with minor possession on school property, due to the fact that they know they are illegally using a substance that is especially illegal on school property.

Students cannot vape on school property due to the schools being a tobacco free zone. Although there is herbal vaping that does not involve tobacco, it still has the same harmful effects as normal cigarettes. Even though vaping is just water vapor going into your lungs, it is still just as damaging as smoking a normal cigarette if not more damaging due to one juul having nicotine four times the amount as in one cigarette. Depending on the amount of nicotine in the juice, the student using vapes and juuls can experience the same effects as smoking nearly an entire pack of cigarettes or even just a few cigarettes.. The consequences can be more serious because of the vapes and juuls have nicotine content and with it still being a part of the cigarette family if you are caught vaping on school property, you can be charged with several offenses.

Vaping on school property is not only against school policy, but also the law. Law enforcement will be involved in handling the charges against you, and not only that, but how the charges will be dealt with add another consequences. Here the smarter choice would be to just wait until you get home, or even stop vaping at all, and relate back to the health issues you mentioned
