On February 21st 2019, there was a math debate at Carroll College. The debate was between Dr. Sullivan and Dr. Cline, both math professors at Carroll.
Dr. Sullivan won the debate which was essentially about Leonhard Euler.
Euler was considered to be one of the greatest mathematicians of all time. They were arguing over what they thought was his greatest mathematical equation.
Dr. Cline argued that π^2 over 6 was Euler's best equation. On the other hand, Dr. Sullivan was defending the equation e^i*π+1=0. Both doctors put up a great debate, but in the end, it was Dr. Eric Sullivan who won the debate.
I voted for Dr. Sullivan because he made the math in a complex equation a little easier for a freshman who is only in Math 1 Honors to understand, and he also made it a little bit more entertaining to watch.
All in all, it was a great debate, and I really recommend going to see the next math debate which will be sometime in September as there are only two a year. The debates are completely free at the Carroll College Simperman Hall Wiegand Amphitheatre, 1250 Hunthausen Way.
