A good story from an older time is hard to find especially since we seem to be losing our connection with the older generations, whether it be because our phones distract us our fast paced lives don’t allow it or we just feel it’s unimportant. But by living so fast paced lives and feeling it's unimportant, we are losing a special connection that we have with certain people like our elder family member or family friends. These special bonds can help us understand more about our family history, such as were we come from and more, but by losing this we lose ourselves in a way.
Most of the older generations can tell us stories that their parents and grandparents might have told them about when they were kids and what life was like and how things only cost a quarter or a nickel. Sadly this passing down of stories has started to disappear since technology has become a more popular way to spend time then having a real conversation for most people such as teens eighty percent of us would rather play on our phones .
When you walk into any coffee shop it’s usually the older generations you see reading the paper and talking face to face but when you look around you see the younger generations playing on their phones, not talking. Phones are one of the biggest disconnects between generations due to one growing up with having to ride their bikes to their friends house, or having to call with a landline to make sure they could go hangout while the younger generations are playing on their phones, having immediate twenty-four access to text and call anyone who they want to hangout with.
Hanging out with some of my younger family I know that it gets really annoying having them constantly looking at their phones when you want to go out and do something like going for a walk or create our own game to play. I believe we should put our phones and electronic devices away because in the end a phone is replaceable and won’t last forever, but the memories and stories we are told are unreplaceable and we can always carry those with us.
